ESLENE RICHMOND-SHOCKLEY
President/CEO/Founder, Caring For Others, Inc.
In 2001, with $25 and a calling from above, I began a journey of hope called Caring For Others. Little did I know what was in store. The owner of a warehouse agreed to rent a portion of his building for three months for $1. The space had no heat and no toilet or running water.
We have grown swiftly and have since purchased the building, expanded globally, and increased our giving by more than a hundredfold! Today the journey is far from over. Today, Caring For Others continues to offer hope to the least of these and, most importantly, give a voice to the faces of poverty. This includes those who have been marginalized and remain invisible to society.
THAT’S WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT.
But we cannot operate in a vacuum. Volunteers, donors, and partners are the key to our success. It doesn’t matter where you come from or how you look, poverty is not a respecter of persons. Together we can certainly shift the tides and restore dignity to families in need.
